The Copy Desk is the backbone of The Daily and by being a part of it, you’ll have two major responsibilities: fact-checking and grammar checking. While basic fact-checking includes names, titles, quotes, spelling and hyperlinks, grammar checking is done using the Associated Press Stylebook rules and guidelines. Through your work, you’ll ensure The Daily upholds its credibility within the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor communities. Anyone with an interest in editing — regardless of experience or academic background — is encouraged to apply!

The Copy Desk at The Michigan Daily is responsible for editing, reviewing, and fact-checking peers’ articles to ensure they align with The Daily’s editing standards. We maintain a friendly work environment through collaboration and communication both within our section and throughout The Daily. By working in the Copy section, you will gain valuable skills in editing efficiently and accurately.
