Culture, Training & Inclusion works to create a diverse, inclusive newsroom and bridge the gap between the paper’s staff and the communities we serve. CTI works to promote development and a diverse and equitable internal staff culture with a focus on professional development, conflict resolution, workplace culture, and training. CTI is central to The Daily’s goals of having diversity, equity and inclusion at the forefront of our workforce, culture and coverage.
Positions
Human Resources
CTI is designed to be the bridge between diversity, equity, and inclusion work, human resources, and the rest of The Michigan Daily. This section focuses on access and inclusion within the newsroom and works to build an inclusive culture from multiple angles. As a member of CTI, you will work on initiatives to create a positive workplace environment, increase professional development opportunities, and manage workplace conflict. This role will provide real world insight into human resources and DEI that will provide skills which will certainly transfer to any and every career path. This position is open to Daily staffers, as well as those who do not have prior experience with The Daily, who are passionate about the intersection of DEI and the workplace. Members are paid and report directly to the CTI Co-Chairs. This role requires attendance at weekly meetings and independent and/or team work throughout the semester. With that being said, the time commitment is manageable and flexible!
