Culture, Training and Inclusion
Culture, Training & Inclusion works to create a diverse, inclusive newsroom and bridge the gap between the paper’s staff and the communities we serve. CTI works to promote development and a diverse and equitable internal staff culture with a focus on professional development, conflict resolution, workplace culture, and training. CTI is central to The Daily’s goals of having diversity, equity and inclusion at the forefront of our workforce, culture and coverage.
Positions
CTI Staffer
CTI is designed to be the bridge between diversity, equity, and inclusion work, human resources, and the rest of the Michigan Daily. As a member of CTI, you will work on committees and initiatives to create a positive workplace environment, increase professional development opportunities, and develop training for other Daily staffers. Projects we have worked on in the past (and are currently working on) include building a Daily-wide peer mentorship program, creating the Daily’s demographics survey, collaborating with other organizations and resources on campus (e.g., Trotter, SAPAC, and Spectrum Center), working on creating a more accessible website and workspace, and assembling internship resources for Daily staff, among many other initiatives. This position is open to any University of Michigan student who is passionate about the intersection of DEI and the workplace. This role requires attendance at weekly meetings (Mondays at 8pm) and independent and/or team work throughout the semester.
