Design
Are you interested in graphic design? Did you love working for your high school yearbook or newspaper? Do you know what Adobe Creative Cloud is? Do you enjoy creating pen-and-paper illustrations? If you answered yes to any one of these questions, The Daily Design may be the place for you! Design is in charge of graphics, illustrations, and page layouts for the newspaper, including inserts such as The Statement, The B-Side and Sports Monday. As a designer, you will enhance your skills with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, receive feedback on your work, and receive valuable hands-on technical and design experience that you cannot get anywhere else on campus.
Positions
Illustrator
Illustrators come into the newsroom on a given day of the week or work remotely to create one or more illustrations based on design requests from other departments. The design editor in charge of your production day will contact you in the afternoon to send you the design requests of the day. The illustrations range from small-scale, simple drawings or entire covers.
