With the new age of journalism moving to an online format, video sections play an important role in newsrooms, including ours. Look at Vox, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal– they are all finding ways to transform their written content into world-class videojournalism. It has never been more important to learn and develop these skills.
At The Michigan Daily, we are striving for just that. We work with all other sections to find a way to enhance their written content as well as producing our own special video projects. Throughout all aspects of the production process, The Daily’s Video section has a place for you!

Positions
Videographer
The Michigan Daily's Video Team is looking for creative minds eager to dive into the world of videojournalism! As a videographer, you'll produce and edit engaging short- and long-form videos for our YouTube channel, website, and social media platforms.
With us, you'll enjoy a generous amount of creative freedom to explore topics you're passionate about. Although we don’t have any formal experience requirements in place, basic understanding of camera usage and an NLE software like Resolve, Final Cut or Premiere is preferred. That said, we can provide some training as needed, so we encourage all aspiring videojournalists to apply!
This role encompasses all available roles within the Video section. Within your time on the team, you are welcome and encouraged to gain experience in editing, filming, etc. The key requirements are as follows:
* Joining us for weekly all-staff meetings, happening this semester on Sundays at 8:30.
* Collaborating with our team to produce, shoot, and edit 1-2 projects each month. Often, this may involve attending local events alongside our News section to create compelling shortform content.
