Videographer

Do you like Buzzfeed, Vox, or just spend too much time on YouTube? The Video Team is looking to hire creative individuals who want to give video making a try! Videographers are in charge of producing and editing short videos for The Michigan Daily's YouTube Page, website, and social media. Members are expected to put out one video a month, but are welcome to do more! Experience is encouraged but not required.

As a videographer, you will have a ton of creative freedom to create a topic you desire. Responsibilities of a videographer include but are not limited to: (a) Attending two Tuesday night meetings per month (b) Working in a group to produce, shoot, and edit at least one video per month.

With the new age of journalism moving to an online format, video sections play an important role in newsrooms — including ours. Look at Buzzfeed, Vox and the New York Times — they are all finding ways to transform essays of writing into an easily digestible video. At The Michigan Daily, we are striving for just that. We work with all sections to find a way to enhance their content as well as producing our very own. Here with the Video section, you can easily gain some experience filming and editing skills. Plus, there is no previous experience required. From pre-production to post production of a video, The Daily’s Video team has a place for you!
